You have watched Banker win four hands in a row, and by now a fifth Banker bet looks far too obvious to skip before the next hand starts. The scoreboard backs this up — when every column reads the same, players at a live table usually get their chips down before betting closes.
But those columns are just history. A fresh hand carries the same odds as the one before it. Eight decks put Banker at roughly 45.9%, and no streak influences that number. Watch a shoe at AS128 Baccarat Singapore and count how many four-win runs actually stretch to five.
Why Do Baccarat Streaks Look Meaningful?
Baccarat gives you two betting options: Banker or Player, and live tables record every hand on a scoreboard of colored circles: red for Banker, blue for Player, green for a tie.
The Big Road, the main grid, fills a grid one result at a time. A new column starts each time the winner changes, so a long streak grows downward and a back-and-forth stretch makes a zigzag. Ties appear as a green slash through the circle.
Say Banker has won five of the last six hands, and its representation is hard to miss on the Big Road. The same trap catches you on a zigzag. Banker, Player, Banker, Player — and suddenly Player feels like the obvious next call. The sequence looks like a pattern, so another switch feels natural.
But the next hand could be Banker, and the alternating run ends there.
The scoreboard records each result as it happens. A repeating sequence may catch the eye, but it offers no reliable basis for choosing the next bet.
What a Baccarat Streak Tells You
Say Banker wins four hands in a row, then Player takes the fifth. The scoreboard at an AS128 baccarat table in Singapore will now show you four red circles and one blue, and that is all it shows. It gives no reason to think Banker was the better pick on the fifth hand, or that Player was overdue. Just because a side hasn’t hit recently doesn’t mean it’s due. That’s gambler’s fallacy.
Each hand is dealt from the shoe on its own. The cards from earlier hands do leave the shoe, but the effect on the next hand is too small to bet on.
Banker comes out ahead in about 45.9% of eight-deck hands, Player in about 44.6%, with ties filling the last 9.5%. A single 100-hand session can stray far from that.
Therefore, a four-win streak and a seven-win streak leave the underlying odds unchanged. Some baccarat tables also display Big Eye Boy and Cockroach Pig, which use previous results to show patterns in different formats. Use them to track past hands, but don’t expect a will help you in predicting what would be the result on the upcoming hand.
What to Watch for at the Baccarat Table
At AS128 Grand, the live baccarat scoreboard records each result, including ties. A run of Banker or Player wins can catch your attention and tempt you to bet on the same side..
After several Banker wins, review your planned bet before placing it. A winning Banker bet usually pays 0.95 to 1 after commission, so consider that payout alongside the amount you could lose.
If the streak is the only reason to switch, the odds on the other side are the same as before the streak.
Set a spending limit before the first hand. A streak can end on the next hand or last for ten more, and the board gives no way to tell which, so the limit has to come from you.
Our Advice
Pick one stake before you sit down and keep it for every hand, through a run of wins and through a bad stretch. With a flat amount you always know what a hand puts at risk, and the scoreboard has no say in the next bet.
Follow one shoe at AS128 Grand’s live baccarat Singapore tables with no bet placed, and write down each moment a streak would have made you switch sides or raise the stake, along with what the next hand did. You can’t judge whether switching would’ve won off one shoe. The number worth watching is how often you did it. Five or six times in a shoe means the board is driving your decisions more than you’d like to admit — that’s the point to walk away.
FAQs:
Do The Derived Roads Add Any Information The Big Road Lacks?
No. The three derived roads are calculated from the Big Road, so they show the same hands in a different arrangement.
What Baccarat Players Mean by “Dragon” and “Ping Pong”?
Players who “follow the dragon” are betting that a long run of one side keeps going. Ping pong describes a stretch that alternates Banker, Player, Banker, Player. No fixed length turns a run into a dragon.
What Is A Dragon Tail On The Big Road?
Once a column fills the sixth row of a standard grid, further circles run to the right along the bottom instead of down. That sideways line is the tail, and it marks a run of at least seven.
